- I'm loving having disc brakes, i used to get through loads of brake blocks on my previous touring bike being heavily laden quite often.
The 520 steel tubing gives such an assured, solid and comfortable ride, and obviously with Dawes being a long established touring bike designer they've done their homework with the geometry and it all seems pretty much perfect to me. Incidentally i'm 5'10" and the 53cm frame fits me fine.
- When the bike came it was missing the rear rack, the bell and basic tools to part-assemble the bike.
During the first ride i soon realised the handlebar stem was upside down, actually sloping down and giving the bike a low slung road bike feel as opposed to the more 'sit up and beg' feel of a tourer.
On the first hill i had to adjust the deraileur by 6 quarter turns of the barrel adjuster.
The rear mudguard was wrongly
bolted on to some of the holes for the rack, leaving the mudguard sitting a good inch above the tyre in places!
