XL and CNC Platform pedals with needle bearings. XL Pedals have 10mm more width than the CNC Oxide pedals.

Cr-Mo axle with one sealed bearing and one needle bearing per pedal.

XL are perfect for riders looking for a bigger platform.

XL: 105mm width body with front/rear concave (115m).

CNC: 95mm width body with front/rear concave (115m).

10 strategically placed Maz pins per pedal give fantastic grip but also allow foot movement if required.

New flanged Maz pins offer great levels of grip and the flanged base stops the pins being ripped out of the pedal body.

Why do we opt to use a 20mm pedal body?

We could have made some narrower "sealed bearing" pedals but we wanted to include the use of high load Needle Roller Bearings.

Virtually every other "sealed bearing" pedal uses 1 cartridge bearing at the reduced diameter end of the axle, and a "bush" at the thicker/stronger crank end of the axle. Whilst this works, the bush creates more friction and wear than a ball or roller bearing would do.

Our rider and designer Maz wanted to reduce early onset of the common "rattly pram wheel" effect caused by worn bushes of sealed bearing pedals and hence wanted to use 2 sets of bearings per pedal - rather than the normal 1 bearing and 1 bush.

Needle Roller bearings spread the vertical load applied to them over the length of the complete roller, compared to a ball bearing which applies the load in a relatively small area of the sphere contact. This means that they can be smaller diameter than the equivalent vertical load capacity cartridge ball bearing, however, they still need a fraction more space than a simple bush does.

Whilst there are several super skinny pedal bodies using a bush bearing, many proven and popular pedals are over 20mm thick.

Maz figured out that he could fit a Needle Roller bearing into a 20mm space if it ran directly onto the Cr-Mo axle.

Therefore, Maz opted to make the pedal body a 20mm thick and install a "needle roller bearing" together with a cartridge ball bearing.
