The silent Gates Carbon Drive is an important part of its appeal, rendering oil-smeared clothing - and frequent maintenance - a thing of the past. And it goes without saying that 'Race' isn't just a marketing tag that we've tacked on. This bike has earned its moniker, because we sweated the details to make it as fast as possible. From the state-of-the-art 8 speed Alfine hub to fast-rolling Schwalbe tyres and lightweight frame, the Hyde Race is a pure bred urban speed machine.

Cube's engineers took everything they'd learned from building fast, lightweight mountain bike frames and put it to good use in the Hyde Race. The frame is built with torsional rigidity - and therefore efficient pedalling - in mind. We used double butted tubes and our advanced mechanical forming process to put aluminium where it's needed for strength and remove it where possible to save weight. There's a Split & Slide dropout to enable the drive belt to be changed, if needed, and we added a quick and easy way to tweak and lock belt tension. And the sleek, lightweight fork performs as good as it looks, giving precise and nimble steering and a surprising degree of comfort on rough city streets.
