In 1996 Lake was one of the first cycling shoe companies to take a 100% carbon fiber race shoe, make it SPD compatible and put a rubber sole on it, giving the world a look at on the first true cross country race shoes with MX300C.

Almost 2 decades later Lake is still leading with innovative racing shoes. The MX331 is the ultimate cross country mountain bike race shoe that is equally comfortable in it’s single track duty, cyclocross or even gravel racing. The MX331 draws from the same Thermaform technology as found in the CX402. The Internal heel counter is heat moldable carbon that gives the option to better customize the heel hold. A secure heel hold will stabilize the foot and eliminate heel slip. Stable foot allows for more power transfer and less fatigue.

Form fitting Natural leather uppers in combination with the BOA® closure system insures that your foot will be secure without needing to over tighten the shoe. The MX331 utilises Lake’s patent double sole system. The inner sole is a semi flexible fibreglass platform that allows the foot to have some flexibility at the ball of the foot where the foot tends to swell and typically hot spots would occur.

The inner sole is suspended over the outer rigid carbon sole. This system enables us to use an extremely stiff carbon outsole without sacrificing riding comfort. Combine this with a super grip, lightweight race rubber sole and you have the perfect shoe for high intensity racing.
