Nowadays, getting around easily in an urban environment clearly means switching to bikes. They're fast, stress-free and good for you. But this calls for a bike geared towards those needs. The Hyde is our idea of the ideal light urban bike. The 27 speed transmission is perfect both for getting around town and rides out in the hills but, just as important, this is a bike that has style.

Frame

The 29er aluminium frame is a real eyecatcher, but it also makes the Hyde a lot lighter. This brand new frame can use real 29 inch tyres thanks to newly tweaked tyre clearances. 3D forged dropouts make it easy to attach mudguards, luggage racks and kickstands, which means the Hyde can be customised according to individual needs. There's room for two drinking bottles, thanks to bosses mounted on the down tube and seat tube.

Components

We've equipped the Hyde with robust, tried and tested gear shifting components from Shimano's Acera groupset, with an upgrade to a Deore rear derailleur. That's 27 gear combinations at your fingertips. We've not compromised on brake technology either, evidenced by the Tektro HD-M290 hydraulic disc brake system, which ensures that you can stop reliably at all times. The frame is perfectly complemented by the light and rigid aluminium fork, which gives direct and agile handling along with plenty of tyre clearance. Schwalbe's 2.35in Big Apple tyres make the Hyde a comfortable companion when you have to speed over a cobbled section or drop down off a kerb, but also have good puncture resistance.

Integrated Cable Routing

Internally routed cables offer many advantages. Cables are protected from dirt for longer life, weight is saved thanks to the absence of external housing and the bike has a clean, sleek appearance.


Easy Mount Kickstand

The Easy Mount Kick Stand is a new system developed and designed by CUBE. The base of the stand is mounted from below to a fitting plate integrated to the frame and fixed with a through bolt. This kick stand is extremely stiff and solid through the enlarged contact areas between base and frame which gives a stable stand even with loaded panniers.


Tapered Steerer

This steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and yields a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means the greatest possible steering precision. With the larger steerer, the forks become more rigid. At the same time weight is saved due to the absence of bearing shells as the lower bearing is fully integrated into the head tube. On all of our CUBE carbon models the upper bearing shells are also directly in the frame, so that once more a few grams are saved and the energy transfer is very direct.


Wet Paint Surface

On polished, brushed aluminium and all HPC frames, the logos and graphics are applied in multi-layer wet paint. We use this surface treatment technology mainly to save weight.
