They may be fat but, good Lord, can these things dance! Fat CAAD makes full use of Cannondale's Si System Integrated technology and aluminium wizardy to give the fun, floaty traction of a fat bike the heart and soul of a racer. With its incredibly agile handling, narrow Q-factor and ultra light weight, you'll want to ride these things even when its not snowing.
Rider Profile
Riders looking for a more high performance, racy feel with all that fatbike traction and float.
Key Features :
- A full-traction, multi-terrain adventure mobile
- The best of fat biking with the fattest tyres, the lowest Q-factor and the best fat suspension fork
- A more nimble, agile, high performance approach to fat biking.
- CAAD - Cannondale Advanced Aluminium Design - Our CAAD heritage shines again in the SmartFormed frame of the Fat CAAD. Incredibly light, stiff and smooth riding, the Fat CAAD is a testament to Cannondale's decades of aluminium crafting expertise.
- Fat Performance Geometry - Fat bikes don't have to be slow and cumbersome, the Fat CAAD was made to rip no matter what the season. We tweaked all the angles and infused our XC learning to create a super nimble, speed craving machine.
- Lefty Olaf - In the world of fat biking there is no more ideal fork than the Lefty. The Lefty Olaf is has unmatched stiffness and control to keep the big meat pointed exactly where you want it. Olaf 's wider clamps and inset axle offers the largest tyre clearance of any fork and its fat-specific airspring curve works wonders with those pillowy tyres. 100mm travel.
- Lowest Q -Factor - Thanks to our System Integrated components, the Fat CAAD has the lowest Q-Factor in the game (198mm for 1x, 204mm for 2x), which is up to 2.5cm narrower than other 4.8" tyre compatible bikes! Our 120mm BB30XL bottom bracket and custom offset chainrings on our Si cranksets allow us to move the crankarms further in without affecting chain clearance, so it feels like riding a bike, not a horse.
- Super Short Chainstays - Thanks to our Si cranksets and offset spiders, we were able to keep the chainstays to just 456mm for surprisingly agile handling, even with room for big 4.8" tyres.
- Extra Fork Rake - With their huge, grippy contact patch and heavy rotational mass, fat bike tyres don't really like to turn, especially at slower speeds. To overcome that tendency, most fatbikes have pretty steep head angles, which works, but also can make the bikes more nervous and twitchy at speed. Fat CAAD takes a totally different approach. We use a relatively slack head angle for high speed stability, and pair it with forks that have up to 15mm more rake (offset) than other forks, to reduce the " trail" measurement for exceptional slow-speed agility. Lefty Olaf - 60mm rake / FattyFat Rigid - 55mm
- Internal Dropper Post Compatible - Clean, internal routing through the Seatpost makes a dropper post an easy upgrade
