Salary Sacrifice Schemes

Communication:

Effective communication and promotion are key to the success of any salary sacrifice scheme. HCI, Child Care vouchers and Cycle To Work schemes provide employers with unique opportunities to show their commitment to their staff and really add value to their employee relations.

Promotion is key. Wheelies Direct Cycle Solutions is able to work with employers to ensure that we get the right mix of marketing solutions to suit their organisation.

Roadshows are a particularly effective way of getting the message across. By enabling employees to view products at their own workplace and get a feel for the quality of what we offer we are able to increase scheme take-up. Wheelies Direct also produce scheme-specific posters and flyers to promote schemes to organisations with multiple outlets. Intranet and email can also be very effective ways of communicating benefits to employees.

It is important to ensure that employees are offered a varied choice of options. Whilst most employees are happy to pick from a select number of deals, Wheelies Direct Cycle Solutions are able to put together customised packages to ensure that more discerning cyclists get the best value out of the scheme.

Questions & Answers

Employers are naturally apprehensive when it comes to issues affecting tax and national insurance. In the past, employers have been reluctant to run salary sacrifice schemes. With the improved information and guidelines now available from HM Revenue & Customs, the OFT and DTI, employers are now more confident to pass on the benefits of salary sacrifice.

It is important that employers and employees know how salary sacrifice can affect them. Through our ‘Cycle Solutions’ scheme we have developed user-friendly question and answer leaflets which are provided to all employees who are interested in the scheme.

Employees have the opportunity to speak to us during our on-site road shows. Our highly trained Cycle Solutions advisers are also available on our phone lines between 8am and 9pm on weekdays to provide product advice, and answer questions on tax issues and how the scheme works.
