Bike demand has ‘tripled in the past year’

Bike manufacturers are struggling to keep up, says The Independent National newspaper. The Independent has drawn attention to bicycle shortages in the face of rising demand – which has, according to the paper, tripled in the past 12 months.

The article cites the good weather, and the ongoing success of the Cycle to Work scheme as major drivers behind the boom.

The paper says Giant, Trek and Specialized brands are worst affected by shortages, with some Ridgeback models also seeing demand outstrip supply.

Whilst some models are inevitably running low in certain sizes, Cycle Solutions has managed to overcome this shortage in supply by forward ordering good quantities of the most popular bikes. We are looking forward to offering the new 2010 models as the manufacturers launch them.
